Dangote named in TIME 100 list, reinforcing global influence of Africa’s industrial leader

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, chairman of the Dangote Group, has been named among the world’s 100 most influential people in 2026 by TIME Magazine, underscoring his growing global impact in business and industrial development. The list, released on April 15, recognises individuals shaping global discourse across sectors including business, politics, and technology, as reported by The Cable.

Dangote was featured in the “Titans” category, alongside prominent global figures such as Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, and Pope Leo XIV. He is the only Nigerian on the 2026 list, marking his second appearance after his first recognition in 2014, reflecting sustained influence over more than a decade, according to Vanguard News.

TIME highlighted Dangote’s role in advancing industrialisation across Africa through investments in cement, agriculture, energy, and manufacturing. His flagship projects, including the Dangote Refinery and fertiliser plants, have been positioned as transformative infrastructure aimed at reducing import dependence and strengthening regional economic capacity.

The recognition reinforces Dangote’s status as a global business figure shaping Africa’s economic trajectory. It also signals increasing international acknowledgement of African-led industrialisation, positioning the continent as a more influential player in global markets and long-term economic transformation.
