The project, backed by Qatari investors and the Rwandan government, is poised to enhance regional connectivity and boost trade, tourism, and logistics, according to Bloomberg. The airport is expected to handle millions of passengers annually and position Rwanda as a central hub in the continent’s growing aviation sector.
Rwandan Transport Minister Ernest Nsabimana noted that the renewed collaboration with Qatar signals confidence in Rwanda’s economic trajectory and long-term infrastructure strategy, as reported by Reuters.
