Russia and Ethiopia Deepen BRICS Partnership with Ambitious Industrial Push

Russia and Ethiopia are strengthening their partnership under the BRICS framework, advancing plans to expand cooperation across key industrial sectors including energy, manufacturing, and infrastructure, according to Business Insider Africa.

The collaboration is underpinned by Ethiopia’s recent BRICS membership, which has opened access to alternative financing, technology partnerships, and large-scale infrastructure funding, supporting the country’s industrialisation agenda and reducing reliance on traditional Western institutions.

Both countries are exploring joint projects spanning energy development, industrial parks, digital infrastructure, and agriculture, with discussions also including nuclear energy cooperation and technology transfer initiatives aimed at accelerating Ethiopia’s long-term growth.

Trade between the two nations has already surged, reflecting deeper economic alignment, with expanding flows in fertilisers, agricultural products, and industrial inputs, alongside plans to scale investment and logistics cooperation.

Analysts say the partnership signals a broader shift toward South–South industrial collaboration, as BRICS members increasingly coordinate to build resilient supply chains, finance infrastructure, and drive industrial development across emerging markets.
