Morocco has finalized a $420 million agreement with Japan to finance key domestic development initiatives, officials confirmed, highlighting Tokyo’s growing engagement in North Africa.
The funding will support infrastructure, energy, and social projects across Morocco, aiming to bolster economic growth and sustainable development, according to Bloomberg. Moroccan Finance Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui said the deal reflects Japan’s confidence in Morocco’s economic reforms and long-term development plans, as reported by Reuters.
Japanese Ambassador to Morocco, Takeshi Higuchi, noted that the partnership strengthens bilateral ties while contributing to Morocco’s strategic projects, particularly in renewable energy and urban infrastructure. The agreement forms part of Japan’s broader Africa investment agenda, emphasizing collaboration on sustainable growth initiatives.
