This year’s edition aims to spotlight the growing importance of homegrown travel markets at a time when global tourism patterns continue to shift. Delegates will explore how African nations can harness domestic travel to stimulate local industries, empower community enterprises and diversify national revenue streams. Conversations will also consider how improved infrastructure, better visitor experiences and inclusive cultural programming can transform local tourism into a driver of long-term growth.

Mbalmayo offers a meaningful setting for the event. The town’s lush environment, artisanal traditions and cultural heritage reflect the potential that domestic destinations hold when they are well supported and strategically positioned. Cameroon’s broader commitment to expanding its tourism footprint further underscores the relevance of hosting such a gathering in the region.

ICDTE 2025 is expected to serve as a practical platform for collaboration, innovation and knowledge exchange. For policymakers, investors and tourism practitioners, the conference represents a timely opportunity to reimagine domestic tourism as a force for economic empowerment, community development and national pride across the continent.
