South African mining group African Rainbow Minerals reported a 10 percent rise in half-year profit, supported by stronger prices for platinum group metals, as highlighted by Reuters.
The company said headline earnings increased to 1.67 billion rand (about $100.6 million) for the six months ending December 31, 2025, up from 1.52 billion rand recorded during the same period a year earlier. Improved platinum prices helped offset weaker performances in other divisions, including iron ore, manganese, and coal operations.
Earnings from the group’s Two Rivers Mine and Modikwa Mine rose sharply, increasing by more than 200 percent, as platinum group metal prices climbed significantly during the reporting period, MarketScreener reported. The strong showing from the platinum segment helped cushion a 34 percent decline in earnings from the company’s iron ore and manganese units, alongside losses in the coal business.
Reflecting the improved financial performance, African Rainbow Minerals declared an interim dividend of 5 rand per share, up from 4.50 rand previously, underscoring the impact of firmer platinum prices on the group’s earnings outlook.
