From Nigeria to the World: How the Country Man Is Bringing Authentic Country Music Home with a Historic Lagos Concert

On 28 December 2025, The Country Man will step onto the stage at Bature Brewery, 256 Etim Iyang Crescent, Victoria Island, Lagos, for The Country Man Live, his first ever solo concert. Running from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the event represents a defining homecoming moment for an artist whose music has travelled far beyond Nigeria’s borders, while remaining deeply connected to the place where his journey began.

The concert marks a significant milestone in The Country Man’s career, bringing his distinctive sound into a live setting curated specifically for Nigerian audiences. After years of building an international following through digital platforms, radio features and select performances, the Lagos show offers a rare opportunity for fans at home to experience his music in its fullest and most personal form.

Known for delivering classic country music with remarkable authenticity, The Country Man has carved out a unique space as a Nigerian artist excelling in a genre rarely associated with Africa. Influenced by legends such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Don Williams and Kenny Rogers, his sound draws from the traditions of classic country while being shaped by an African perspective grounded in lived experience and cultural depth.

“Country music is about stories, honesty and emotion,” The Country Man said. “Those values are universal, and they exist strongly here in Nigeria. This concert is my way of showing that connection.”

His career has steadily gained international recognition over the years. In 2025, he headlined the Global Entrepreneurship Festival in Ghana, delivering a standout live performance that further cemented his reputation as a compelling stage act. His work has also been featured on radio platforms in the United States and South Africa, alongside television appearances across East Africa, helping to expand awareness of African country music on a global scale.

Despite growing global exposure, The Country Man has consistently emphasized the importance of grounding his journey at home. “I grew up here. My journey started here. Bringing my first solo concert to Lagos is about honouring where I come from and sharing that journey with my people,” he said.

The concert is curated to appeal to a broad yet discerning audience, including music lovers, professionals, expatriates and families seeking a meaningful December experience. With a full live band and a carefully structured performance, the evening is designed to prioritise storytelling, musicianship and emotional connection rather than spectacle or excess.

“I want people to leave feeling something real,” he explained. “Not just entertained, but moved. That is what country music has always done for me.”

Beyond its entertainment value, The Country Man Live represents a wider cultural statement within Nigeria’s evolving music landscape. It challenges rigid genre expectations and affirms that African artists can authentically interpret and redefine global sounds. As Nigerian music continues to command international attention, this Lagos concert stands as both a personal milestone and a confident declaration of artistic freedom, cultural pride and global relevance.
