Royal Air Maroc to Receive First New Aircraft from 2028, CEO Confirms

Royal Air Maroc (RAM) will begin receiving deliveries of its newly ordered aircraft from 2028 as part of a major expansion program aimed at boosting the airline’s global network and competitiveness, Chief Executive Officer Abdelhamid Addou said in an interview on Friday.

The Moroccan flag carrier plans to acquire up to 200 aircraft over the next 15 years, aligning with the country’s strategy to strengthen Casablanca’s position as a key aviation hub between Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Addou stated that the first batch of aircraft will be delivered “starting from 2028,” with procurement discussions underway with Boeing and Airbus.

“This expansion marks a new chapter for Royal Air Maroc as we position ourselves to support Morocco’s growing tourism and trade ambitions,” Addou was quoted as saying by Bloomberg.

According to Reuters, the airline’s growth plan is part of a wider government-backed effort to double Morocco’s air connectivity and passenger capacity by 2035, in line with the country’s Vision 2030 development goals.
