TechHerfrica to Empower Rural Women Through PoliServe Dialogue Initiative

(EMPOWERMENT) TechHerfrica is set to host the maiden edition of the PoliServe Dialogue on October 15, 2024, in celebration of the International Day of Rural Women.

This landmark event, themed “Enhancing Livelihoods of Rural Women through Stakeholder Collaboration,” will focus on addressing the challenges rural women face in Nigeria, from financial exclusion to digital gaps and limited business opportunities.

Organized by TechHerfrica, an organization committed to gender inclusion in technology and policy, the PoliServe Dialogue will bring together policymakers, rural women entrepreneurs, development advocates, and private sector leaders.

The goal is to foster inclusive discussions that result in tangible solutions to improve the lives of rural women. With a wide range of topics on the agenda, from access to finance and digital tools to environmental concerns and gender-based violence, the event is set to provide a comprehensive platform for addressing these pressing issues.

Several key partners will play significant roles in the event. The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) will provide insights on business formalization, an essential step for rural women entrepreneurs.

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development will deliver the keynote speech, highlighting the importance of gender-focused policy interventions.

The Poverty Intervention Committee (PIC) will focus on breaking barriers to create lasting prosperity for rural women, while 9Mobile will address how connecting rural women to the digital economy can bridge the digital divide.

The Madiba Foundation will offer policy recommendations aimed at enhancing the safety and livelihoods of women in rural communities.

Other notable partners include EFInA, which will present data-driven solutions for financial inclusion among rural women, and GSAI, which will focus on empowering rural women through sustainable agricultural practices.

EcoSteward Humanitarian Foundation will bring discussions around climate resilience, a critical issue for communities facing environmental challenges.

Additionally, Fidelity Bank will explore innovative banking solutions that foster economic growth for rural women, and the YALI Network Abuja will tackle gender-based violence, addressing specific challenges that rural women face.

Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni, CEO of TechHerfrica, shared her excitement about the upcoming event, stating, “PoliServe Dialogue represents an opportunity to amplify the voices of rural women and bridge the gap between them and decision-makers.”

“By addressing their challenges directly, we can create practical solutions that enable these women to succeed and drive sustainable development in their communities,” she continued.

A significant component of the event will be its focus on collaboration between key stakeholders. This includes policymakers, the private sector, and community advocates who will discuss the most effective ways to support rural women and enhance their livelihoods.

The event aims to ensure that these discussions lead to actionable strategies that can be implemented at the grassroots level, ultimately improving the economic and social conditions of rural communities.

In addition to addressing the financial and business challenges rural women face, the PoliServe Dialogue will also focus on the impact of climate change on rural communities.

TechHerfrica has highlighted that women in these areas are disproportionately affected by environmental changes, and this event will explore strategies for mitigating these effects.

The event will also address gender-based violence, a widespread issue that threatens the safety and well-being of rural women.

Anticipation builds as October 15 draws closer for the PoliServe Dialogue event, with stakeholders eager to see how the event will contribute to real, long-term change.

By giving these rural women a platform to voice their experiences and needs, TechHerfrica is paving the way for sustainable solutions that will empower these women to lead better lives and strengthen their communities.
