Seth Rogen, Danny Boyle, Colman Domingo and Nigerian media executive Mo Abudu are among the major industry figures joining the inaugural TIFF: The Market Summit, as the Toronto International Film Festival expands its role as a global hub for film financing, production and entertainment business. The summit will run alongside the festival’s September 10 to 16 programme in Toronto.
The newly announced lineup will bring together filmmakers, actors, producers and industry executives for conversations and panels focused on the changing global screen economy. Other participants include Kat Sandler, Jordan Firstman, Amber Midthunder and Cody Lightning, adding perspectives from different areas of the film and television industry.
For Mo Abudu, the invitation represents another significant international platform for African storytelling and creative industry leadership. The Nigerian media entrepreneur has become an increasingly prominent voice in global conversations around African film, television and content production, making her participation particularly relevant as the market seeks to connect international players with emerging creative economies.
The launch of TIFF: The Market also reflects the growing importance of business platforms around major film festivals. By bringing financiers, distributors, creators and entertainment executives together, TIFF is positioning its new market as a space where creative ideas can translate into investment, partnerships, production and global distribution, with Africa increasingly part of that conversation.
