Two time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts will receive the Golden Eye Award at the 2026 Zurich Film Festival for her performance in the upcoming drama The Housewife, according to Variety and Hollywood Reporter. She will accept the honour in person on September 26 and participate in a ZFF Masters session reflecting on her career.
Directed by Ben Shirinian, The Housewife stars Watts as Hermine, an elegant New York housewife in the 1960s whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel when journalist Joseph Lelyveld investigates suspicions surrounding her husband’s past. Tye Sheridan and Luke Evans also star in the film.
The Zurich Film Festival praised Watts for her emotional depth, versatility and commitment to her roles. Her acclaimed career includes Mulholland Drive, The Ring, 21 Grams, King Kong and The Impossible, with the latter two earning her Academy Award nominations.
The 22nd Zurich Film Festival runs from September 24 to October 4, 2026, with The Housewife set to give audiences another showcase of Watts’ acclaimed dramatic range.
