Bonang Matheba Reimagines Afro Dandyism in Sculptural Grey Tailoring at the 2026 SAMAs

Bonang Matheba brought a distinctly modern interpretation of Afro Dandyism to the 2026 South African Music Awards, stepping onto the red carpet in an oversized slate grey ensemble that traded traditional evening glamour for sharp, effortless tailoring, as reported by BellaNaija.

The look featured wide leg trousers, a matching shirt, relaxed oversized jacket and statement gold waist buckle, creating a strong silhouette that balanced masculine tailoring with Bonang’s signature polish. Oversized sunglasses, layered jewellery and pointed animal print heels added personality to the otherwise monochromatic palette.

Rather than simply following the Afro Dandyism brief, Bonang interpreted it through volume, proportion and understated sophistication. The relaxed tailoring gave the ensemble a contemporary edge, while the sculptural gold hardware at the waist became the focal point of the look.

The result was another memorable Bonang fashion moment, proving that red carpet glamour does not always require a gown. At SAMA32, she showed how confident tailoring, considered accessories and a strong point of view can make an equally powerful statement.
