Ayra Starr Expands Global Afropop Run With Third Album Starrgirl

Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has released her third studio album, Starrgirl, a 16 track project that marks a new phase in the singer’s rapidly expanding international career, as reported by Vanguard News and Universal Music Canada. Released on August 14 through Mavin Records and Republic Records, the album follows 19 & Dangerous and The Year I Turned 21, and reflects Starr’s evolution into a more versatile global pop artist.

The album brings together a mix of Afropop, R&B, pop and dance influences, with collaborations including Wizkid on “Gimme Dat” and Rema on “Who’s Dat Girl”. Other featured artists include ZAYN, Leon Thomas, Danny Ocean, Kwn and Theodora, extending Starr’s musical reach beyond Nigeria and reinforcing the project’s international positioning.

For the African music business, Starrgirl represents another step in the globalisation of Afrobeats, as Nigerian artists increasingly work with major international labels and artists while retaining African influences in their music. Starr’s growing international profile, including two Grammy nominations and multiple MOBO recognitions, gives the album commercial significance beyond streaming, with opportunities across touring, brand partnerships and global entertainment markets.

The release also positions Ayra Starr for another major phase of international growth. With Starrgirl now available globally and performances and promotional activities supporting the project, its streaming performance, international chart presence and ability to translate into live audiences will be key indicators of how far the new era can extend her influence across the global music market.
