Dubai Financial Hub Surpasses 10,000 Companies as Global Business Demand Accelerates

Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has surpassed 10,000 active registered companies for the first time, marking a major milestone in its ambition to become one of the world’s leading financial centres. According to Reuters, the number of active firms rose 30% over the past year to 10,018 by the end of the first half of 2026, driven by strong demand from global financial institutions, multinational corporations and technology companies despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.

The financial hub attracted 2,318 new active registered companies over the 12 month period, while the number of regulated financial services firms increased 16% to 1,134. Artificial intelligence, fintech and innovation companies also expanded rapidly, growing 39% year on year to 1,933 firms. “DIFC’s exceptional performance of surpassing the 10,000 active registered companies for the first time reflects the continued confidence that global financial institutions, investors and innovators place in the Centre’s legal and regulatory framework,” said Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of DIFC.

The milestone reinforces Dubai’s position as the leading financial gateway connecting the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, while supporting the emirate’s D33 Economic Agenda to rank among the world’s top four financial centres. For businesses and investors, the sustained growth signals continued confidence in Dubai’s regulatory environment, business friendly policies and expanding ecosystem for banking, wealth management, fintech and artificial intelligence. The increase in company registrations also reflects the broader shift of international firms seeking regional headquarters and investment opportunities in the Gulf.

Looking ahead, DIFC is expected to continue expanding its financial and innovation ecosystem through new office developments, digital finance initiatives and investment friendly reforms. As global institutions deepen their presence in Dubai, the centre is well positioned to play an increasingly significant role in facilitating capital flows, innovation and cross border business across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.
