Josplay and Sony Music Partner to Expand Access to African Music Catalogue

African streaming platform Josplay has entered a strategic partnership with Sony Music Entertainment to significantly broaden access to African and global music content for listeners worldwide.

Under the agreement, Josplay users will gain access to a wide portion of Sony Music’s catalogue, including content distributed through The Orchard, alongside the full catalogues of Lusafrica and Africa Nostra, as reported by THISDAY.

The Lusafrica and Africa Nostra collections alone feature over 4,000 titles spanning more than three decades of African and Lusophone music, with iconic artists such as Cesária Évora, Bonga, Boubacar Traoré, and Lura included in the catalogue expansion.

The partnership also leverages Sony Music’s global distribution infrastructure to enhance reach across key African markets, including South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya, while improving music discovery for both local and diaspora audiences.

Speaking on the collaboration, Josplay’s COO emphasised that the deal aligns with the platform’s mission to showcase the diversity of African music, spanning genres from Juju and Gnawa to Amapiano and Afrohouse, while preserving cultural depth in music consumption.
