Dangote Refinery Exports 456,000 Tonnes of Fuel to African Markets

Nigeria’s Dangote Petroleum Refinery has exported about 456,000 tonnes of refined fuel to markets across Africa, reinforcing its growing role as a key supplier of petroleum products on the continent, according to Channels Tv.

The exports, which include petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel, highlight the refinery’s rapid scale-up since commencing operations, with shipments reaching multiple countries in West and Central Africa. Industry reports note that the facility has already begun reshaping regional fuel trade, reducing reliance on imports from Europe.

With a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Lagos-based refinery is increasingly positioning Nigeria as a net exporter of refined petroleum products, marking a significant shift from decades of import dependence.

Daily Post Nigeria says the export momentum underscores the refinery’s strategic importance, not only in boosting foreign exchange earnings but also in strengthening regional energy security. As output continues to ramp up, Dangote Refinery is expected to play an even larger role in supplying Africa’s growing demand for refined fuels.
