21st Annual AVCA Conference & VC Summit 2025: Powering Africa’s Next Decade of Exponential Growth

From April 28 to May 2, 2025, the Lagos Continental Hotel became the epicenter of Africa’s private capital ecosystem, hosting the 21st Annual AVCA Conference & VC Summit. Under the theme “Bold Moves: Powering 10x in Africa”, this premier gathering united over 700 delegates representing more than 50 countries, including 195 institutional investors and 130 industry experts on a shared mission: to unlock transformative growth across the continent.

The summit’s distinguished roster of speakers read like a who’s who of African and global finance and innovation leaders. Highlights included Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole MFR, alongside venture capital giants like Tope Awotona, founder and CEO of Calendly, and Nigel Morris, co-founder of QED Investors.

Other influential voices included Catherine Cax of the Soros Economic Development Fund, Wale Adeosun of Kuramo Capital, and representatives from Amethis, DEG, Helios Investment Partners, the Mastercard Foundation, EbonyLife Media, the Nigerian Exchange Group, IFC, and more.

Key discussions focused on unlocking critical follow-on capital to sustain Africa’s burgeoning startups and enterprises, emphasizing the need for innovative financing solutions such as venture debt and blended finance models.

Experts also tackled the challenges of navigating volatile markets, currency fluctuations, and economic uncertainties, offering strategies to mitigate risk while maintaining momentum.

A central theme was the growing importance of public-private partnerships, spotlighting collaboration between governments, development finance institutions, and private investors as vital drivers of sustainable economic development.

The summit further explored promising investment avenues within high-growth sectors including fintech, agribusiness, healthcare, and renewable energy, pinpointing these as key engines for Africa’s economic transformation.

Beyond the plenary sessions, the summit fostered invaluable networking opportunities for elite investors, business leaders, and policymakers. These connections are expected to fuel cross-border partnerships, catalyze capital flow, and stimulate innovation across Africa’s diverse markets.

Looking ahead, the 22nd Annual AVCA Conference & VC Summit is scheduled for April 2026 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, poised to continue the momentum of advancing private capital investment and entrepreneurship on the continent.

For business elites and visionaries seeking to stay at the forefront of Africa’s investment landscape, the AVCA Conference remains an unmissable event, a powerful platform where bold ideas meet strategic capital, fueling the continent’s future.
