Nigerian Tech Storyteller Misstechy Champions Youth Empowerment at Global UNESCO Forum

Nigerian tech content creator and digital storyteller Tofunmi Eniola Ayodeji, widely known by her digital moniker Misstechy, made headlines this week as she delivered a compelling address on youth empowerment through digital storytelling at a high-level UNESCO global forum on Media, Technology & Youth Innovation.

Speaking on a panel titled “Future Narratives: Youth Voices in the Age of AI and Platforms,” Misstechy spotlighted the pivotal role that African youth-led content creators play in shaping local tech discourse, inspiring innovation, and bridging the gap between global digital ecosystems and grassroots realities.

We don’t just tell tech stories, we translate innovation into opportunity,” she said. “From underrepresented voices in Nigeria to digital-first entrepreneurs in Nairobi, storytelling has become a gateway to empowerment, economic mobility, and global visibility.”

The forum, held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, convened over 300 delegates from across the globe, including ministers, platform executives, researchers, and Gen Z innovators, exploring how digital platforms, AI tools, and media can be harnessed for inclusive youth development.

Building Africa’s Digital Confidence

A longtime advocate for tech inclusion, Misstechy has cultivated a vibrant pan-African audience through her dynamic content on mobile trends, product reviews, fintech education, and digital lifestyle hacks. Her storytelling style, both accessible and aspirational, has earned her partnerships with top tech brands and policy-driven platforms aiming to localize innovation narratives.

At the forum, she emphasized the need for investment in digital media literacy, creator economy infrastructure, and equitable platform policies that support young African talents not just as consumers but as producers of culture and technology.

UNESCO’s Youth & Tech Strategy

UNESCO officials reaffirmed their commitment to elevating youth creators as agents of social change and digital transformation. The organization is currently piloting new initiatives to support AI training for content creators, open-source platform collaborations, and youth-driven tech storytelling labs in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.

Dr. Alicia Bensaid, Director of Digital Inclusion at UNESCO, praised Misstechy’s impact:

“She represents a new generation of digital leaders, no creators who educate, mobilize, and inspire millions through tech-savvy storytelling rooted in local context.”

Strategic Outlook

Misstechy’s presence at the forum underscores a broader shift: the recognition of digital creators not only as influencers but as economic actors, policy stakeholders, and catalysts for innovation in Africa’s growing digital economy.

With Nigeria’s digital content sector projected to reach $1.2 billion by 2027 (PwC Africa Media Outlook), experts say strategic support for creators like Misstechy could unlock greater youth participation in innovation, entrepreneurship, and civic leadership.
