Divine Ndhlukula: A Trailblazer in Security and Women Empowerment

In the landscape of African entrepreneurship, few names shine as brightly as Divine Ndhlukula.

The Zimbabwean businesswoman has defied industry norms and shattered glass ceilings to become a leading force in the security sector.

As the founder and managing director of Securico Security Services, one of Zimbabwe’s largest and most successful security firms, Ndhlukula has transformed an industry once dominated by men and created a platform for women to thrive in business.

Her journey to success is a testament to perseverance and vision.

Born in rural Gutu, Zimbabwe, she pursued higher education at the University of Zimbabwe, earning an MBA and a postgraduate degree in Management.

However, her foray into entrepreneurship began long before her formal education. With a keen business mind, she recognized a gap in the security sector and set out to change the status quo.

In 1998, with limited resources but boundless determination, Ndhlukula started Securico Security Services from her home office with just four employees.

Her goal was not only to provide top-notch security services but also to create opportunities for women in an industry where they were under-represented. Today, Securico has grown into a multi-million-dollar enterprise with over 4,000 employees, many of whom are women.

Pioneering Success in Security

Under Ndhlukula’s leadership, Securico Security Services became the first Zimbabwean security company to receive ISO certification, setting a benchmark for excellence in the sector.

The company offers manned guarding, electronic security solutions, alarm response, and cash-in-transit services.

Ndhlukula’s commitment to quality service and ethical business practices has cemented Securico’s reputation as an industry leader.

Beyond financial success, one of her most significant achievements is advocating for women’s inclusion in security. She actively recruits and trains female security officers, challenging stereotypes and proving that women can excel in this demanding field.

Championing Women’s Economic Empowerment

Ndhlukula’s influence extends beyond the boardroom. She is a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, recognizing the barriers that many women face in entrepreneurship.

To address this, she founded the Women in Enterprise Conference and Awards (WECA), an initiative aimed at supporting and celebrating female entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe.

Through mentorship and advocacy, she has inspired countless women to pursue their business ambitions and break barriers in male-dominated industries. Her efforts have earned her numerous accolades, including:

  • African Woman of the Year Award
  • Forbes Africa Businesswoman of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement Award from the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC)
  • EY World Entrepreneur Award Finalist

Divine Ndhlukula’s story is one of determination, innovation, and impact. From a small home office to leading a security empire, she has demonstrated that success is not dictated by circumstances but by vision and action. Her contributions to business and women’s empowerment have left an indelible mark on Zimbabwe and Africa as a whole.

As she continues to expand her influence, Ndhlukula remains a beacon of inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs. Her journey reminds us that no industry is off-limits for women and that with courage, hard work, and purpose, anything is possible.
